It seems obvious to me that users of this new BB will be using it primarily for email/text, which requires the keyboard taking up more space. I can't imagine trying to surf the web without going bug-eye.

I've gotten use to the iPod touch keyboard, but it took me awhile. We are so used to feeling and hearing the keys as we type, so there is a mental/physical connection, which makes typing on the iPhone/iPod touch keyboard challenging at first.

Regardless, the future is definitely bright for mobile devices. They can only get better over time and as each problem is solved, new ones will arise.

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

Wow. I'd love to see that in action

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

Word on the street is that Apple is working on haptic feedback, so the screen would be able to dynamically rise up to form keys when in keyboard mode. Full screen + a tactile keyboard. Fits in with the iPhone vision of a totally programmable interface.

http://www.appleinsider.com...

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

Maybe so. I need to play with it

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

I'm guessing that all of that clutter with the menu items on top and the icons below would go away when you goto into each app.

I thought I read somewhere that this screen is going to be bigger and higher resolution than the curve?

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

A while back you wrote about your perfect/dream mobile device, that is
what we need. A hybrid of iPhone, Blackberry Curve and Nokia N95.

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

I did use the iphone and I love the screen but not the typing

The curve's screen works for me

But what I really want is a blackberry with a keyboard and with the ipod screen

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

I have an iPhone, but have been a BB fan for years. I think this is a terrible design. Yes...the screen is too small.

Re: Fred Wilson Dot VC

If you ever used the iPhone, all these other screens would make you feel claustrophobic.
