Nice. Looks like I'll be leaving A VC open in my browser a lot more!

How can I get these songs into my lastfm profile?
  • fredwilson · 1 year ago
how can you find them on last.fm or how can you scrobble these listens?

The latter requires some work on daryn's part I think

Really nice widget Daryn! I like the comments along with the songs and the autoplay feature. Usually I just read AVC's feed through G Reader, so this is the first time I've had the page up on my computer in a while and the first time I've ever had it up for more than 5 minutes. Great song list Fred.... I just went back and played Human After All repeatedly. Somehow I hadn't heard that one before.

    That makes my day!!

Only bummer is that when I just commented it took me to a new page and stopped the music.... would be cool to just be able to comment without a new page load and keep the music going.

    Popup for commenting?

    Hmm

    Interesting idea

I was thinking actually of just more of an active control. So when I hit post on a comment no need to do a full page load. At a minimum the comment would get sent, and would display for a user next time page gets loaded. Better yet would be having the comment section refresh as well on the page without having to reload the whole page. Seems like it should be technically feasible. No big deal but often its the accumulation of all the little things that makes a diff.

    fantastic tracks. Thanks!

actually, instead of a pop-up for commenting, perhaps there is potential for two comment sections. one for the songs, one for the posts. and, it would be very cool if we were all listening live to the same tracks (I'm not sure if that is how it works or not). that would give more of a communal feel.

I love the auto play option for listening to all the tracks as a continuous playlist. It would be great if Daryn or someone else built a Greasemonkey script that embeded this player into the Tumblr Dashboard (only for people who added the script to their Firefox browser). That way, we could open the Dashboard, filter by audio posts, and listen to a continuous playlist of all the tracks from the people we're following in Tumblr. Seems like this widget is pretty close to offering that functionality once it's paired with Greasemonkey. Who's got my lazyweb miracle?

I bet that the tumblr team is following this discussion and will deliver something that is more elegant than a greasemonkey hack

But its a cool idea nonetheless

mightily enjoying your mix, Fred. Favorites are Kids - MGMT and the Kate Nash cover.

Love that version of "You've Really Got a Hold On Me," a song I've loved since first hearing the Beatles' version too many decades ago.

Fred, i don't think Pop-ups are the solution, the problem is you really want some sidebar items to be static across pages (obviously not ads). i started a song, clicked on a different post to read and the sidebar reset, thus stopping the song. Yea i can open A VC in two tabs but that isn't great.

The other feature I would like to see is a click through to buy a song on Amazon, i have always wanted this feature on my car radio too.

    Great suggestions

Ideally tumblr will do all of this including great widgets

Enjoyed the listen and remain convinced that there's a business to be built from "dj" sales referrals direct from this type of interaction.
